The “Mountain View” area of Hochzillertal, was our final stop during our visit to the ski area (it was also our first really as this is where you drop off your luggage before skiing to the Wedelhutte).
It is not “mountaintop” nor strictly a “ski lodge” (more a collection), but it meets the other criteria of being high up on the mountain (ie. gondola ride required) and no road access. You definitely feel like you are “on the mountain” even if you aren’t isolated on the top of peak. It is a (much) smaller version of Avoriaz. If Avoriaz is a mountaintop town, Hochzillertal is a mountain top village.
The area includes several properties…
- · Mountain Lofts – 3 luxury apartments in the large complex behind the Mountain View Station (see bottom) including the special infared warming “baths” right at the window for the best warming view ever. All part of a complex that includes the Sport Stock ski rental and store, and an expansive restaurant also with great views.
- · PlatzlAlm – A more conventional ski hotel/chalet with 7 rooms and a full service restaurant for all 3 meals.
